The electric voltage in Taiwan is 110V / 60Hz. The most common power socket is Type A JIS C 8303 / NEMA 1-15 (Non-Grounded, Non-Polarized). See the figure.
Mobile 3G Internet Access
Most hotels in Taiwan provide free Wi-Fi access, and internet will also be available at APCTCC venue. However, if participants need mobile internet access in order to locate the GPS maps or use other mobile functions, here is the information that might be helpful:
Chunghwa Telecom offers ”IDEAL Card (如意卡)” as a pre-paid service. Initial purchase of the SIM card is NT$300 and valid for 180 days. Local calling rate (voice) is about NT$6 per minute, and there is a 40% discount during midnight 23:00-08:00. You can select one of the following internet plans:
- By volume: The cost is NT$180 per Gigabyte within 60 days.
- By day: Internet access is unlimited within the period of function, but you have to choose among the plans of 1-Day (NT$100), 3-Day (NT$250), 5-Day (NT$300), 7-Day (NT$450) , 10-Day (NT$500), and 30-Day (NT$900) at the time of pre-payment.
Both of passport and one of your domestic photo ID (national ID, social security card, or driving license... etc) are required to purchase the SIM card, and remember to request for activation of the 3G internet service at the time of purchase.
Topping up is relatively easy. You can also top-up your SIM card at convenience stores such as 7-11, Family Mart, Hi-Life and OK mart.

Foreign Exchange and Banking ServiceBank of Taiwan and Megabank run branch offices in both of TPE, TSA and KHH airports during the hours of international arrival. Banks nearest to APCTCC venue are marked with dollar signs ($) in the promenade map below. Click on the link of banks to check their realtime quotation of foreign exchange. Note that banking hours of downtown offices are 09:00-15:30 from Monday to Friday, and a passport is required for foreign exchange. There is also an International ATM machine (Cirrus, Maestro and UnionPay) in the lobby of the Ambassador Hotel, right behind the giant black bear.

We will visit the mountain town Cishan where buildings of the early 20th century are well preserved in the Half-day excursion.
